Los datos demográficos en Colombia muestran un rápido crecimiento en la población adulta mayor para la cual no se han hechos centros ni residencias. Es muy importante analizar a éstas personas, cómo piensas, qué les gusta pero más importante qué tan activos y productivos son. En primera instancia, el proyecto busca no sólo darles una mejor calidad de vida sino también la necesidad de devolverles por toda la experiencia y conocimiento que han aportado a la sociedad. Por esta razón, el proyecto busca crear espacios en donde estos saberes puedan seguir transmitiéndose de generación en generación.

Fue necesario y primordial estudiar la psicología del envejecimiento para entender las diferentes conductas que los mayores tienen a cierta edad. Como resultado de la investigación, se concluyó que los mayores definen su personalidad en esta etapa llegando a convertirse en el grupo poblacional más heterogéneo, por lo que llevó a crear espacios para que los mayores decidieran si tener una vida activa o pasiva.

Colombia's population grows older over time as years pass and no centers, nor houses for elder people have been design or planned. It's very important to analyze future elders, how they think, their likes and most important, how active and productive they continue to be. For instance, the project's main objective, before giving them a better quality of life, is to reciprocrate them for all the experience and knowledge they possess, therefore, the project looks forward to create spaces in which they can still share their knowledge to other generations. 

 

It was essential to analyse the psychology of aging to understand different conducts and aspects of the elders daily life. As a result of the investigation, it was identified that people defines their personality as they approach the 3rd age. In consecuense, the project was designed to adapt to different types of personalities, giving the elders freedom to decide wether they prefer to have an active or passive social life.

 

The architecture includes large spaces for their easy access to any type of activity, as well as their apartments, floor materials that don't let slip easily, safety bars for those who require them and a good illumination in all spaces for their security.
